Starting an ADHD assessment?
Your assessment takes place across several appointments, giving your clinician time to understand your history, current experiences and clinical needs — not just your symptoms.
An initial consultation to understand what has brought you to us, your history and current concerns, and whether progressing to a comprehensive ADHD assessment is the appropriate next step.
An in-depth clinical assessment exploring your history, current experiences, symptoms and how they affect different areas of your life. Your clinician brings this information together as part of the diagnostic process.
Your clinician will explain the outcome of your assessment, answer your questions and discuss appropriate next steps. If ADHD is diagnosed, this can include treatment options and a plan for ongoing care.
This total relates to the complete new-assessment pathway (Steps 1–3). Medicare rebates apply to eligible patients and appointments.
Already diagnosed with ADHD?
You may be able to transfer your care without repeating an ADHD assessment.
For patients who have an ADHD diagnostic report and prescribing/treatment history.
For patients with an existing diagnostic report who require clinical review before treatment is initiated.

Preparing for an ADHD Transfer of Care appointment
Your patient is preparing for a Transfer of Care appointment following an existing ADHD diagnosis. Where clinically appropriate, having relevant baseline investigations available for review may help avoid delays in progressing treatment.
Observations
Blood pressure — baseline reading

Bloods
Full blood count
Electrolytes and renal function, including eGFR

Already completed?
Results from the last three months usually don't need repeating — send what you already have. The patient can provide them for review rather than repeating them.
What is needed varies between patients. Your clinician reviews your history, any existing results and your individual circumstances, and decides whether anything further is required. Having results available does not guarantee that medication will be prescribed at the first appointment — treatment and prescribing remain subject to clinical assessment and clinical appropriateness.

Investigations and treatment requirements vary between patients. Prescribing remains subject to clinical assessment and clinical appropriateness.
An older diagnosis doesn't automatically mean starting again. Your clinician will review how ADHD affects you now, your current health and circumstances, and whether any further information is needed.
Ongoing care
Care continues after diagnosis.
Medication reviews, monitoring and follow-up can continue with your clinician, where clinically appropriate.
